Task of the Day

T.O.D.
Task of the Day--- A daily inspiration and spiritual call to action.

The Challenge:

Creatively enrich your/my/our spiritual growth and personal relationship with Jesus Christ while utilizing this forum to regularly hold each other accountable and lift each other up!

How it Works:

Following prayer and consultation with the Lord, I will post a task every day. Each task will correspond to a Word from God/scripture. At each day's end, you are invited to post the results of the task in action including artifacts from the journey. I imagine that some days will feel more successful than others. Additionally/realistically, "daily" may end up being "weekly" during certain seasons.

The Goals:

The overall goal is to deliberately carve out the time and put work into each day to become better lovers. Let us love ourselves better, love strangers, friends, enemies and family better. Let us love God better. Did you know that of all the richness that is God's Holy Scriptures, the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love people?! (Matthew 22:36-40) Basically, love is a big deal and we want to get better at it and walk in it.

Each T.O.D. is meant to focus on a bite-sized, actionable step to help us recognize what love looks like on a day to day basis so that we may recreate it and dwell in it... and it in us.

Let us welcome God into our lives and allow ourselves to be perfected.

The Invitation:

You are invited to join me in each T.O.D. and I encourage you to post your results as well. Although tasks are designed as "daily bread", definitely wrap them into a week, month, year, until they are engrained into your daily members. There is only one rule. You must be honest and transparent about your struggles and successes! Testify! Please invite others to join us on this fantastic voyage!

Be Blessed!

Why are Christians so Judgemental?

Scripture:
Jude 1:14-15 (KJV)
14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, 15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

Jude 1:14-15(NIV)
14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

Inspiration:
The plan was for Today's T.O.D. to be written by a guest blogger. However, the LORD let me know at about 5am this morning, that there would be a change in that plan. If it is in the LORD's will, the next guest blogger will post tomorrow. My desire is to do the will of the Father so, I'm actually quite excited about today.

I will be transparent in revealing that this evening's topic is one that I am approaching somewhat apprehensively. Even as I write, I have no idea what the LORD is going to say or how He will bring this all together. I am simply making myself available for His use. Let us see where this goes....

*********

So what's the deal with those Christians? Why are they so holier-than-thou? Why are they so judgmental? Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone, right? Isn't that scriptural?

Most of us have had such wonderings. Most of us have had experiences with people that call themselves "Christians" that cause us to question the very meaning and value of the title.

What is it with Christians that they feel compelled to preach fire and brimstone propaganda, condemning everybody else to hell? What makes them any better than the rest of us?

Even within my personal spiritual journey, I feel as though I never had to be so cautious about judging others until I became a Christian. Wild right? Is it okay if I keep it real with you all? As a Christian, I'm supposed to be better, right? I'm supposed to rise above whatever whatever and be some kind of example, right? ..... Well, not exactly.

I'm not going to apologize for being the bearer of this news.... the truth is that Christians aren't any better than any other human being on the planet. Calling oneself a Christian does not mean that temptation dissipates by any means. Calling oneself a Christian does not mean that one is automatically sin-less. Calling oneself a Christian does not mean that you have this whole life thing all figured out. In fact, Not everyone that identifies as a Christian, is a servant and lover of Christ and..

THIS is why "Christians" are so judgmental.
*******

True servants and lovers of Christ, true doers of the Word of God, are NOT judgmental. Does this mean that if you slip up one day and judge someone else, that your Christian card is revoked? No. This means that if you are a person who is notorious for condemning other people, then you may need to do a heart check. Are your actions pleasing in the sight of the LORD? If not, you may need to repent and turn away from your wicked ways.

(while Christians aren't better than others, we do have certain responsibilities for and to others)

According to Jude 1:14-15, there is a time when God's people WILL JUDGE THE WORLD. However, that time has not yet come. In this same book of the bible, we find out what time it is.

To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ:
Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.

Dear friends,
Although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home--these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.

In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals--these are the very things that destroy them. Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion.  These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm--shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted--twice dead. They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him." These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires."

These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.  But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.  Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy--    to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore!

Amen.

TASK OF THE DAY 9: Why is it that we are more concerned with the judgment of man than we are the judgment of God?

For today's T.O.D.
"... fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

The judgment of people is irrelevant. Don't let fear of being judged immobilize you, stunt your growth, cause you to shrink back or prevent you from seeking God's face.

Additional task for SAINTS OF GOD:  You know who you are...

Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

Did you know that....

Satan loves it when you profess yourself a Christian, yet look and live like the rest of the world. Satan loves it when you call yourself a Christian while none of your words, actions, behaviors, thoughts, or secrete moments model the ways of Christ. Satan is doomed to a place that is worse than Hell and he desires to grab as many souls on his way down as he possibly can. Such a hater, right?! Let me guess.... you don't believe that God or devils exist?..... Unfortunately for you, your belief in them does nothing to change the reality of the matter. When our bodies die physically, our spirits will live for eternity... either in Heaven or in Hell.

Some people glorify Hell and their lascivious actions with proclamations like, "I'll see you in hell" or "I know I'm going to hell so I might as well live it up! You only live once!". There will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth in Hell. Think of the most tortuous physical, spiritual, and mental pain that you can think of and multiply that by eternity and know that Hell is worse than that. You don't want to go there. You don't want anyone that you love to go there. You don't even want your "enemies" to go there. Let's not tempt each other to sin and death, but let us encourage and uplift each other through the Love of Christ.

  1. I appreciate the level of honesty, and the depths of your thinking regarding this topic. I've always thought about this, but have not been able to fully articulate my thoughts in such a concise and profound manner, as you have managed to do here Jonique.

This has taught me a personal lesson and will be a constant reminder to check my heart in all situations. This article is going in my pocket! :)

    Remain Blessed Sis! <3

  2. Bless you, Janice! I think that of all of the posts, THIS ONE is the one that I've continued to meditate on... it continues to minister to me.. I've had to repent a number of times but I can feel my heart changing....

Instead of "that was stupid to cut me off when you see me trying to YZ" I find myself concluding, "he/she may be in a hurry, I pray that the Lord grant them a clear, safe passage and peace"...

Life Changing! I'm looking forward to the continued growth!

    Thank you sister!
