Scripture:
Matthew 18: 21-22 (KJV)
21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? 22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Inspiration:
Per the request of my mother to "make your blog posts shorter," coupled with yesterday's task to "listen" more, I am trying my hand at brevity. Here we go....
*********
Before you can fully embrace Christ, you must forgive any offense that you are holding onto. Once you are in Christ, to STAY IN CHRIST, you must continue to forgive everyday. Keep no record of wrongs. Wipe the slate clean as if your brother (or whomever) had never offended you. Before coming to God in prayer, you must forgive and relinquish any unforgiveness that is holding you captive.
LORD, forgive us for our debts as we forgive our debtors. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Matthew 6:14-15 (KJV)
14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
TASK OF THE DAY 17:
Forgive someone today. Perhaps this is someone who has never asked for forgiveness. Perhaps this is someone that does not even think that they need your forgiveness. You can do this in person, write this person a letter, or give him/her a phone call. I've forgiven someone via text message before and the LORD honored that. Pray about it and let the Holy Spirit guide you. Loose these bonds of wickedness and forgive! Forgive your parents, siblings, children, spouse, Christian brethren. Forgive yourself if you must. Additionally, admit your faults and ask for forgiveness if the Holy Spirit leads you to do so. When we walk in the Spirit of God, we are able to freely forgive, seventy times seven and beyond. When we loose the bondage of unforgiveness, we are making ourselves available to the LORD for His use. We are free to operate in the gifts, calling, and purpose that He has set aside for us! We are free to LOVE!
