Task of the Day

T.O.D.
Task of the Day--- A daily inspiration and spiritual call to action.

The Challenge:

Creatively enrich your/my/our spiritual growth and personal relationship with Jesus Christ while utilizing this forum to regularly hold each other accountable and lift each other up!

How it Works:

Following prayer and consultation with the Lord, I will post a task every day. Each task will correspond to a Word from God/scripture. At each day's end, you are invited to post the results of the task in action including artifacts from the journey. I imagine that some days will feel more successful than others. Additionally/realistically, "daily" may end up being "weekly" during certain seasons.

The Goals:

The overall goal is to deliberately carve out the time and put work into each day to become better lovers. Let us love ourselves better, love strangers, friends, enemies and family better. Let us love God better. Did you know that of all the richness that is God's Holy Scriptures, the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love people?! (Matthew 22:36-40) Basically, love is a big deal and we want to get better at it and walk in it.

Each T.O.D. is meant to focus on a bite-sized, actionable step to help us recognize what love looks like on a day to day basis so that we may recreate it and dwell in it... and it in us.

Let us welcome God into our lives and allow ourselves to be perfected.

The Invitation:

You are invited to join me in each T.O.D. and I encourage you to post your results as well. Although tasks are designed as "daily bread", definitely wrap them into a week, month, year, until they are engrained into your daily members. There is only one rule. You must be honest and transparent about your struggles and successes! Testify! Please invite others to join us on this fantastic voyage!

Be Blessed!

Only If You Want to Live

Scripture:
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Phil 1:21

Inspiration:
Today's scripture has been on my heart for some time and I pray that it blesses you. It is sharp and mighty in its elegant simplicity. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. At first read, and without the proper eye salve, this scripture may be a bit confusing. It may seem counterintuitive. If you haven't come to experience Jesus Christ as the well from which if you choose to drink, you'll never thirst again, then not initially comprehending this scripture is understandable.

However, when you come to know Jesus Christ, you come into the understanding that He IS LIFE. He is also the Way and the Truth. Living FOR Jesus Christ adds breath to an otherwise pointless existence. Waking up every morning and asking God to use you for His glory, adds vivacity to the mundane. Knowing God and having a personal relationship with Him is the cure-all for any ailment. Submitting to the one who created you so that you may be molded into His likeness is enlightenment.

Many have fallen victim to the Y.O.L.O. campaign which promotes a "live how you want to"/ "do whatever you want" agenda. However, if you invite Christ into your heart, you will realize that the way that we choose to live in THIS life, determines the destination and quality of our final chapter in eternity.

And so...

Jesus Christ as the focal point and center of my life = True Living. So if I live my life for Christ, I have access to "abundant life". With this abundant life, the ailments and challenges of this world simply roll off of me as though a stain resistant seal has been applied. And if I die in this state, then I gain an eternity with the King of Kings!

Additionally, in order for us to live a Christ centered life, we make the active choice not to walk in the flesh by operating within the Worldly system of doing whatever we feel like, whenever we feel like it to whomever we feel. In choosing Christ, we are choosing not to be ruled by our feelings but to instead operate with Christian integrity in a world where most people are simply trying to get over by an means necessary.

TASK OF THE DAY:
Happy Monday beautiful people! For today's T.O.D., deny yourself something that you "feel like" having or doing and instead rededicate that time to uninterrupted communication with God. Pray for a sustained amount of time instead of searching and researching your FB newsfeed, turn off the television for an hour and simply read a book of the bible, or forgo extended day dreaming and over-thinking about life's woes and instead fascinate your attention on how blessed you are and how good God is! By doing so, you are adding quality and abundance to your life! #T.O.D.forGod     #BetterLover

Additional Scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15:31 states: I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
